Parade FAQs
- Free parking is available at the Showgrounds (see the showgrounds map under our maps tab)
- There is some limited parking on the grass, under the trees alongside the railway line on the main street
- There is also limited parking along the route but please avoid parking on Highway 16
- There is no parking on Tapu Rd or the Huapai Domain
- Parking is available on one side of the following roads – Koroha, Oroha and Matua as this is diversion route while the Main Rd is closed
- We are unable to provide designated parking for people with disabilities.
- There are the usual parking spaces for those with a disability parking permit along the route (e.g at Kumeu Village shops and other cafes/shops).
- We suggest you park as early as possible and find a good viewing spot or that you contact one of the many businesses along the route and ask them to reserve you a parking or viewing space.
- This year we are flipping the parade around and beginning at the Kumeu Showgrounds in Access Rd (check out the parade route map under the maps tab).
- Floats will leave the showgrounds from Gate 1 at the Showgrounds and proceed up Access Rd, turning left onto Highway 16 and along to Huapai.
- The parade will end at the Tapu Rd/Highway 16 intersection with floats dispersing over the railway bridge and down Station Rd or turning into Tapu Rd and the Domain to offload.
The road closes at 6pm and the parade will begin shortly afterwards.
The parade will go ahead unless high winds or a major weather event makes it unsafe to do so. The parade will still go ahead if it rains. A decision will be made regarding cancellation by 3pm on the day of the parade and posts about cancellation will be made on our social media pages. There is no save date.
Toilets are available at the showgrounds and at the Huapai Domain, There is also a port-a-loo on Tapu Rd at the end of the parade.

Our parade is all about keeping things local! The Main street is filed with awesome takeaways you can order and enjoy while you watch our parade. Or pack a picnic with your family favourites!
There will be a food truck for parade participants before the parade begins at the showgrounds.
